Join BootHammer as we take a look at our Top 4 PS4 Launch Games. The internet and media is ablaze with the almost but promised announcement of the PS4 at the 2013 PlayStation Meeting on February 20. While for the moment we can only speculate at what might be shown and announced, one thing is for certain. 2013 is going to be an amazing year for gamers as we usher in the next generation of gaming. Be sure and let us know which games you would like to see at launch!
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes: Rumored to take place soon after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes serves as a prequel to Metal Gear Solid 5 with several characters and gameplay mechanics from Peace Walker being brought back in this game. Big Boss looks to be the protagonist of the game. Contrary to the previous Metal Gear titles being more cinematic, Ground Zeroes has open world gameplay structure. Imagine a Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes PS4 Bundle, I for one would be sold.
The Last Guardian: The story follows that of a boy who is trying to escape from a setting resembling the ruins of a large expansive castle. The game will revolve around the developing friendship between the boy and a giant, feathered creature resembling a griffin named Trico. Trico has spears and arrows stuck in its back, and is initially bound by a chain. Later, it is freed and is shown attacking an armored soldier. Screenshots show the boy attempting to sneak past and attack other soldiers. Trico will at first be hostile toward the boy, but during the course of the game, the two will develop an emotional attachment to each other. This game has been followed heavily by fans of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. It has tremendous potential and could be a major system seller for the PS4.
Killzone 4: Guerrilla Games is well known for producing some of the best looking console games to date due to their work with the Killzone series. Their artistic style and ability to really take advantage of Sony’s hardware is two of their biggest strengths. We all remember the massive influx of attention and interest after the release of the Killzone 2 pre-rendered trailer at E3 in 2005. Few trailers have sparked such excitement in recent years. Every console needs an exclusive shooter and for the PS4 it’s Killzone 4.
GT6: Polyphony Digital is the king of creating racing sims. While they tend to take longer between releases then fans would prefer, it cannot be argued that they possess the greatest passion out of any dev for this genre. The immense amount of detail in every area of their games is astounding. I could only imagine what the tracks, cars and overall presentation would be like on the PS4. With a collective sales total of 61.41 million units sold, it has been a flagship title for every PlayStation and truly shows the system’s graphic capabilities.
